Cube Goes Chunky With Their K3HD PMP

It would seem that thin is not in with Cube as they bring out their K3HD portable media player – a small and chunky device capable of 720p video playback. The K3HD sports a 3.6-inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480. Quite possibly in the attempts to make the player more convenient for carrying, the 3.6-inch screen still seems rather small to be watching HD videos on, especially whilst there are bigger fish out there. Small and chunky it may be, we can’t deny that this brick of a player looks like it can withstand the test of wear and tear and a few drops here and there (not advertising you actually drop it to find out). Packaging wise, the player comes in a delightfully colourful box which includes standard earphones, cables and a manual. The K3HD has yet to have its processor chip revealed to us, but going by most other Cube players, we’re going to assume either a SoChip or RockChip chip. The video files that the player supports includes RMVB, RM, AVI, WMV, FLV, MKV, DAT, MPG, MP4, MOV, PMP, VOB, ect. as well as H.264 (HP), H.263, DTS, AC-3 support. Its audio file support includes WMA, WAV, APE, FLAC, OGG, ect. The K3HD’s extra features and functions include exFAT support, e-book reader, games, an image browser, built-in speakers, MicroSD expansion and PMU. The mention of PMU coupled with 720p leads us towards assuming that instead of a RockChip chip, the K3HD may be powered by a Boxchip F15 (a variant of the SoChip SC8600). Glad we got that sorted out. More images after the break.
