The Lenovo LePad’s Release Date Now In June

The Lenovo Lepad – Lenovo’s Android based tablet – has had its release date pushed back from the stated December release that we blogged about back in that month. The worldwide release date is now set for June this year, whilst its China release date is at the end of March. First seen at the CES show in January, the LePad is a 10.1-inch HD tablet that runs Android 2.2 as its OS, and is powered by a powerful 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The LePad’s uniqueness comes from its ability to dock on to a keyboard base that turns the tablet into a laptop that runs Windows 7 OS, thus turning the LePad into the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid. The tablet has a front and rear camera and supports video chat. An attractive 4-pane UI is used and with a service that gives you your email, news and other content in real time, you wont be faffing about with opening multiple browsers. The LePad can be bought as a stand-alone tablet whereas the U1 base cannot and will only come as a full package with the slate. Price wise, we’re looking at between USD$399 and USD$449. A good looking tablet indeed, but with Honeycome and Qualcomm Snapdragon’s latest chip – the dual-core MSM8660 now out, we wonder what its sales are going to be like come June. More pics after the break.
