Qualcomm MSM8660 Doing 1080p Playback & 3D

Charbax captured this video recently at MWC 2011, showing the the latest edition of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in action – the dual-core MSM8660. What is most impressive about this is that the chip will do 1080p video playback, 1080p 3D video playback and… also does 1080p video recording & simultaneous playback in 3D. All in a package small enough to go into a mobile phone. While the Qualcomm rep seems to do some backpedalling here and there, it becomes clear at the end that this will work on “most” 3DTVs currently available on the market. It’s an interesting showcase, and we’re eager to find out more about the MSM8660′s capabilities. It already seems very powerful, and we’re sure that we haven’t seen all that it is capable of. Of particular interest is 3D rendering ability, as well as benchmark testing.
