Dell Streak 7: Bad Battery Life?

Reviews have already started to filter in on the Dell Streak 7, as well as hands on videos, and they aren’t wholly positive – at least, not the kind of raving a tablet like the Samsung Galaxy Tab received, which is interesting. The Dell Streak 7 competes in the 7-inch market, as opposed to say, the larger 10-inch market, and as such is up against some heavyweights like the aforementioned Samsung. In the hands on video above, Matt from ZDnet takes us through the Streak 7, commenting on the low screen resolution (800 x 480), as well as showing off the power of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip that powers the Streak 7.  But, onto the meatier aspects of the Streak 7,  Joanna from Engadget only managed around 3 and a half hours of battery life – the same is noticed by other reviewers such as those folks at Laptopmag. Also, JKK as well as Gigaom notice that the Dell Streak is hard to use in portrait mode, as it’s not-quite custom widget UI essentially forces the user to operate the tablet in landscape mode… not super-favourable comments to be sure.

  1. [...] For the Windows tablet we’ve heard about, that is shaping up to be a 10-incher with a 1366 x 768 display, and should debut in the first half of 2011, codenamed “Rosemount”. Moving further into late 2011 and early 2012, we start to see some interesting developments – a 10-inch Android tablet with handwriting recognition; new 5 and 10-inch tablets running Honeycomb (5-inchers is a pretty underrepresented form factor); a new 10-inch Windows tablet codenamed “Peju”. I daresay we have a lot to look forward to out of Dell – and hopefully it all does better than the Streak 7. [...]
