SmartQ N7 Will Have Built-In GPS
In what is becoming par for the course these days in the Android tablet field, the recently announced SmartQ N7 tablet will be coming with built-in GPS as well, adding to an already fairly full feature list. Despite that, though, the N7 is still not shaping up to be something to get excited about. It is more than likely that SmartQ will continue with their employment of the ARM11-based Telechips TCC890x chipset which, while allowing for 1080p video playback, has fairly shoddy Android 2.1 implementation and can be said as being somewhat outdated in these A8/A9 days. To be sure, custom firmwares released by the community will provide a better experience, as they never fail to with SmartQ products. No specs have been made official yet, but it is known the N7 will be a 7-inch tablet with a 1024×600 resolution, which is quite nice. As the promotional image indicates, it is also looking to house a capacitive multitouch touchpanel, detecting up to 10 (!) inputs. Though multitouch is a growing standard in the Chinese tablet market, it is usually 2-point multitouch that tablets support, so colour us skeptical about the N7. From a design standpoint, the N7 looks quite good – let’s hope we actually see it in action at some point.
