Nook Colour Gets Overclocked To 950MHz And Then Some

nookcolor-rooted

The Barnes and Noble Nook Colour has thus far been one of the most tampered with recent Android Tablets. The tamper list includes rooting the Android OS, installing third-party apps, updating the Android OS and installing Ubuntu Linux. We now have another bullet point to add:

  • Overclocked to 950MHz (even to 1GHz, but not ideal)

The affordable device is actually simply a colour e-book reader with Android OS that comes as default with a processor clocked 800MHz. With the overclocking in place, the Nook Colour turns into a faster and less power consuming device, which ultimately saves on battery life. Coupled with all the other hacks and you’ve got yourself quite a decent toy for quite a decent price. The overclocking is done from the device first being rooted, and second by installing a custom kernel. The download details and instructions can be found on the xda-developers forum. Have at!
