A Better Look At The SmartQ N7
We’ve heard a lot about the N7 before, and now get a more in-depth look at its features and functionality. Though the stylistic borrowing from the Samsung Galaxy Tab cannot be denied, the N7 is shaping up to pack quite the punch, assuming it lives up to expectations, which is something the R10 failed to do. First and foremost is the supposed 10-point multitouch capable display, requiring of course a dedicated controller to map the touches (see image after break) – we’re not entirely sold on this yet, but it would be pretty cool if it came to fruition. The 7-inch tab will also come with a 1024×600 resolution on its display, which is pleasing. It is going to run on the Telechips TCC8902 chip, though, as the released specs confirm (ARM11 @ 720MHz), which means support for up to 1080p HD video decoding, but on previous SmartQ models with the same chip there have been audio desync problems. MicroSD expansion, a g-sensor and HDMI-output round out the feature set, and hopefully this tablet will mark a return to form for SmartQ / Smart Devices, as they have been floundering a bit since their V5/V7 days.
