Catching Up: Itoos MID I5

The Itoos I5 MID, which we missed last week, is another Telelchips powered MID to come rolling into what is fast becoming a market as saturated as MP4 players before it. It’s powered by the Telechips TCC8902 chip, meaning that one of it’s boons is 1080p video playback, but we are somewhat doubtful of how well Android 2.1 operates on it – certainly not to the level of efficiency that we’ve seen from Cortex A8 devices or Rockchip devices. Lending further doubt is the fact that the I5 is in a standard APAD shell – a possibly not so stable shell that has build quality concerns. Rounding out the specs is a resistive touchscreen, WiFi connectivity and support for 3G dongles, as well as an accelerometer. Itoos also recent announced their MID I3 – a sleek, slender and almost phone-like MID that looks pretty darn good. The I5 does have some pretty decent specs and features, it’s just a shame it doesn’t look as good as it’s sibling. More images after the break.
