Catching Up: A Pretty Thing Called Alice

byd_alice_tegra-2-tablet

So we missed this when it came around, but since we’re doing a catch-up this weekend on things we’ve missed, we thought we’d present it again because… well, she’s named Alice. BYD (Build Your Dream), a well-known battery manufacturer as well as car manufacturer has put forth this tablet offering,  a Tegra 2 powered girl that looks every bit as impressive as their playful naming of Alice might suggest. We of course have to ask if there is a rabbit-hole to this device, but do so in jest. This actually looks very impressive. It’s an Android 2.2 tablet measuring up at 8.9-inches with a screen resolution of 964×544, which is a bit unorthodox. Perhaps we’ve already fallen in the rabbit hole. The Tegra 2 processor, based on ARM 9 architecture, comes clocked at 1GHz, and the tablet also has 1GB of DDR2 RAM. It also has Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, Micro USB, Mini HDMI functionality and should do 1080p video without so much as a grunt. As we’d expect, it’s also got an accelerometer. One confusing decision is the relatively low 2200mAh battery which should stifle possible usage time somewhat. Either way, this thing looks beastly, and we look forward to seeing videos of Alice doing her thing…
