U91 UMPC A 7-Incher Running Windows

Windows-based tablets/MIDs/UMPCs/whatever-you-want-to-call-thems are not plentifully abound – certainly not in such mountainous quantities as are comparable Android devices. The U91 UMPC is a proponent on the movement against that trend – it’s powered by the Intel Atom N270 processor, has a 7-inch WVGA 2-point multitouch screen, comes with WiFi, GPS (optional 3G), SD card expansion, two cameras, a trackpad and – this is interesting – a VGA port. The device looks thick (image after the break), chunky when compared to the relatively slim Android counterparts, but this is no doubt due to the cooling which x86 architecture requires. The U91 will come in 16GB to 32GB flavours (both SSD) and you can choose between 1GB of RAM or 2GB (for both size variants). All in all, it looks like a very interesting device and should please the Android naysayers who feel that Google’s OS is not read for tablets just yet. We’re not sure if this will run Windows 7 or Windows XP – but either way, it should afford the flexibility that’s desired by those who don’t want Android.
