RAmos W9 Not Lacking A Sleek Aesthetic
Images of the RAmos W9 have come up again and it is evident that RAmos are not pulling any punches with their new flagship MID. The W9 appears to have quite a sleek and styled aesthetic, with flat edges and a slight curve on the back of the shell. Beyond that, the new W9, announced some time ago, is sporting Rockchip’s latest flagship Android chip too, the RK2818 which promises better performance and Android 2.1 functionality when compared with what essentially amounted to a “test run” with the RK2808 predecessor that could only handle 1.5. The W9 also increases the size of its predecessor, the W7, from 5-inches to 7-inches. Is portability being redefined? More images after the break.
All that’s left is to actually see the device in action, and ascertain the performance of the new RK2818 chip. Will it rival the Cortex A8-based TI OMAP3530 that the Nationite MIDnite carries, a powerhouse of a chip that breezes through Android like a hot knife through butter? If the original rumours hold true that the RK2818 is clocked at 1GHz, then it could certainly be the case. However, 1GHz is seeming less and less likely, with a clock speed closer to the RK2808′s 600MHz more likely.
