RAmos W9 7-Inch MID Pictured at IFA
The IFA saw the RAmos W9 MID in the flesh,t he 7-incher that packs Rockchip’s new flagship, the RK2818 chip that’s capable of running Android 2.1 and has had rumours swirling in turmoil about it for some time now. When the RK2818 was first made known, there were rumours it would be clocked at 1GHz which had members of the Chinese MID market giddy with excitement. That claim hasn’t resurfaced yet, unfortunately, and with the little brother Rk2816 being clocked at around the 600MHz mark (similar to Rk2808), things are looking doubtful that the 2818 will be clocked some 40% faster. That aside, the W9 made it’s appearance in the flesh which is suggestive of a fast approaching launch date. The W9 will be powered by the Rk2818, run on Android 2.1, have 256MB of DDR2 RAM (remember the RK2808 APADs that had the crippling 128MB? No sign of that here!).
