Ployer Entering The Photography Biz

August 30, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

With the Cube B33CAM and the Onda V70, we seem to be entering a (hopefully shortlived) era of PMPs with cameras. Ployer have unveiled their M720 PMP, which comes equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera. Beyond that, the M720 is a bite-sized 3-inches, supports the standard array of file formats (RMVB, MKV, AVI etc.). Curiously, though, the press releases have neglected to mention which form of HD this player is capable of, but it is likely to be at 720p. via imp3

Video: SayCool M5A MID In Operation

August 30, 2010 by HS in Tablet, Video with No Comments.

The above video shows the SayCool M5A in operation, an impressive 5-inch device. We can see the M5A performing various tasks, such as using Word, video playback as well as the somewhat slow boot time into Windows XP. The M5A sports powerful internals: Intel Atom Z530 @ 1.6GHz, 1GB DDR2 RAM, SSD etc. all powering Windows XP OS. It comes in a bit chunky, though, which makes it perhaps somewhat difficult to pocket - at the very least, awkward to put in a front trouser pocket. via midbbs

Video: Transfer Files To Your Android Device Easily

August 27, 2010 by HS in Android, Video with No Comments.

The above video shows off the Dashwire app for Android - it allows you to transfer files over WiFi simply by dragging and dropping it from your desktop/folder into your web browser. All file format supports are supported and your transfers are protected by a unique session pin. All very cool. If you don't have access to a WiFi connection you can also do it over 3G. Very cool indeed. via dashwire

Well Hello Th… Babing Out Done Wrong

August 27, 2010 by HS in Player Babed Out with No Comments.

It seems that Cube didn't get The Memo. It was a definitive guide on how not to babe-out your player. Teclast are quite possibly the leading group of babe-out-philes on this planet, while Cube, until now, had put in a good showing. With their most recent entry into the annals of girl-with-piece-of-tech, they seem to have lost the plot a little; deviated from the well-worn and well-received path. They've babed out their Cube B33CAM, electing to show off its mostly superfluous camera function, but they've also done so in a way that both minimizes the actual player as well as the babe. Not only is the rendering of the player "taking a photograph" woefully oversold, the girl is criminally undersold. Way to go, no-hitter. At any rate, the babe-and-player after the break. Video: Nokia N900 Running Android

August 27, 2010 by HS in Phone, Video with No Comments.

Though the project (NITdroid) is as yet far from complete, the port of Android to the Nokia N900 is certainly seeming promising, and soon will offer users, when finally released, the chance to choose between Android or the Maemo operating systems. This port so far allows you to make phone calls, which again is a sign of good things to come. What's more is that the operation and smoothness of Android on the N900 seem without hitch or anything noticeable to complain about. In fact it all looks quite snappy. Sometimes too snappy, oddly. via ubergizmo

Video: Archos 7 vs IPad Browser Loading Times

August 27, 2010 by HS in Archos, Tablet, Video with No Comments.

The video above shows you an internet page loading times between the Archos 7 and iPad tablets. The Archos 7, which is supposed to be running on Android 2.1, though the black bar at the top looks suspiciously like 1.6, actually beats out the iPad by quite a significant margin - it seems the iPad had trouble loading a specific element. Either way, nothing to get too excited about - browser speed tests can vary for a multitude of reasons and it's best not to put too much stock into them unless they are repeated tests. via midbbs

SODDIT – The USB Stick Experience

August 27, 2010 by HS in SODDIT with No Comments.

Strange & ODDity In Technology - welcome to SODDIT, a hopeful new regular at MP4Nation. We’ll scour the internet superstores and bring to you the intriguing, the weird, the strange, the odd, and the downright unbelievable. Please, don’t let the loose stringency of our acronym naming system turn you away. Today we look at a few USB sticks that offer more than just file storage. USB sticks are often a source of confusion for me. While on the one hand, a good and solid USB stick offers me the storage and backup capability I so desire. On the other, though, sometimes USB sticks can seem like the perfect gifts, or perhaps an excellent fashion accessory, or even just exist as ultimately cool on their own. The point I'm making here is that while the practicality of a USB stick

Shogo Linux Tablet from Redstar

August 27, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

Japanese company Redstar have begun taking pre-orders of their in-house developed Shogo Linux tablet. The Shogo is a 10.1-inch (1024x600 screen resolution) tablet powered by the Freescale iMX-37 processor. In addition, it comes with 256MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, WiFi as well as Bluetooth connectivity with support for 3G. However, one wonders at the audience of this device. There are no app stores or anything of the like to prop up the Linux tablet, though perhaps Redstar might be planning on having a set of pre-bundled apps on the Linux. Either way, an interesting turn for the tablet market, though it is uncertain as to whether these will be available outside of Japan. via ubergizmo
