Cube’s RK2816 Android PMP

cube-u5

Cube, like Window with their recent N5 announcement, are releasing their own 5-inch Android PMP device, the Cube U5, which bears a conspicuous resemblance to the Window N5, not to mention the near identical specs. The Cube U5 runs on the Rockchip RK2816 platform, which means that this PMP, while sporting the Android 2.1 OS, will also be able to “decode” 720p video. The reality is that you’re better off trying to watch lower resolution videos rather than maxing out the RK chip. Further, it is unsure if this unit will or will not have WiFi – but that they don’t advertise it in promotional images is a big indication that the answer is no.
