I-Muz 5-Inch MID Incoming

August 31, 2010 by HS in PMP, Tablet with No Comments.

Another 5-inch MID is breaching the parapets of the mobile-internet craze, this time from I-Muz, a strangely suggestive name... subliminal, anyone? (Oooh, I Must!) The 5-incher looks to be powered by Android, will have HDMI and OTG, as well as a 3-megapixel camera. Exact technical specs are not yet known, such as what chip this device will use. In other news, I Must are also releasing a new 4.3-inch 1080p capable player, the I-Muz MX9, as well as a 720p 3.6-inch player, the I-Muz MX8. Images after the break. I-Muz MX9 I-Muz MX8 via midbbs

Tega V2 Tablet Sports Powerful Internals

August 31, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

In what is the continuation of this tablet craze, we are now seeing 10.1-inches all the way down to 5-inchers sporting impressive internals. The Tega V2 tablet is no exception, packing a powerful Intel Atom N455 processor (that means compatibility with DDR3 RAM), up to 4GB RAM, an SD/SDHC memory card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity alongside 3G, WiMAX and WiBro. It will also ship with internal storage capacities of 16/32/64GB. It's also go a 10.1-inch multitouch display. Very impressive stuff. It's set to debut in September, but isn't looking to be cheap. via ubergizmo

Nvidia Tegra 2 Gets Benchmarked

August 31, 2010 by HS in Hardware News with 2 Comments.

The Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset has been benchmarked. It's the same chip that's set to make appearances in a variety of tablets, such as the Toshiba Folio. More important than that is the sheer power this chipset straddles. We're talking over twice as fast as your standard Android device, such as a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon-powered Google Nexus One phone. It does this while on Android 2.1 (without the Cortex enhancements) versus devices with Android 2.2. Quite frankly, it's something quite like a spectacle. Too bad that when it does do its rounds in the tablets it powers, we'll all know they aren't cheap and that supreme performance demands a supreme price. Have a look at the chart below to get a good gauge on performance. The yellow bar represents the Toshiba Ac100 powered by Tegra 2

Chuwi P9; T.M.A-3?

August 31, 2010 by HS in Chuwi, PMP with No Comments.

Chuwi have gone above and beyond the call of duty, their P9 being a veritable monolith. Excuse the tired joke, but this thing is massive clocking in at 10.1-inches, it rivals the iPad in size. That's right, this is a tablet-sized PMP with a screen resolution of 1024x600 and the ability to playback 1080p videos. Simply... overkill? It could be a replacement television for most students. It's got the standard file format support (MKV, AVI, MPG, MP4, RMVB etc.) and has OTG / HDMI. Quite impressive, though evidently more gimmicky than anything else. Prop it up on top of your microwave and call it a day. via imp3

Window V15 E-Book Reader

August 31, 2010 by HS in Other with 1 Comment.

This 8-inch e-book reader from Window marks one of their rare steps outside the PMP market. The device is powered by Android (no word yet on which version but seems to be 1.5 from the images) and is being marketed primarily as an e-book reader, with capability for reading PDF files. Notably absent from this device is WiFi - despite the Android OS, Window have neglected to include WiFi on this device making it's adaptability to other functions extremely limited. At current, not much more is known about the device, including which chip it uses and what pricing and availability will be like. via imp3

Video: More RK2818 In Operation

August 31, 2010 by HS in Rockchip, Video with No Comments.

You may recall an earlier video of the "RK2818" in action, showing us some fairly fancy photo browsing effects. The chip seemed to handle them with ease, immediately casting doubt that it was the previous iteration, the RK2808. The above video is another that has surfaced of the Rk2818 in operation - the same unit and, presumably, fingers - browsing through a flip-book with images. The page flipping is quite smooth, though not impressively so. If you are unable to view the video in Youku, you may view it here on Youtube. via forums

10-Inch Telechips Tablet On Its Way

August 30, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

A 10-inch Telechips prototype tablet has been spotted sporting a sleek aesthetic, but continuing in the tradition of having the UI too large for its own good. The TCC8902-powered 10-incher seems to feature a resolution of 480x272 on the native 1024x600 screen, which is an oddity that was also apparent with the 7-inch TCC8902 MIDs we've been seeing of late. In fact, if you look at the picture above, look at how much space the address bar takes up. Everything is simply too large. It could be that the large UI is meant for the impressive video playback capability this tablet has - specifically for HDMI application as such a large UI would hardly look bad on a TV. Either way, it's a curiosity that might be an annoyance to some. This 10-inch prototype, otherwise, will be a fairly bog-standa

Sanei CT-6000THD 4.3-Incher

August 30, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

Sanei, a somewhat little known brand, have unveiled their 4.3-inch LTPS screen-equipped PMP, the CT-6000THD (that's familiar... ). The player is a 1080p capable player, with support for the standard array of video file format types, such as MKV, AVI, RMVB, MPG etc., has OTG support and comes in at just under 1CM thickness (0.98 - which is cutting it fairly close). All in all, it looks to be a solid all-around player, with quite possibly a good screen and 1080p support. However, these things these days are fairly bog-standard, and no eyebrows have been raised today. via imp3

Korea’s First Android Tablet: KT Identity Tab

August 30, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

The KT Identity Tab is one of the first, if not the first, Korean mainstream Android tablet to hit the market. The thing boasts impressive specs as well, with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU under the hood, a 7-inch multitouch screen, accelerometer, 3-megapixel camera, WiFi and 8GB of internal memory, not to mention a DMB TV-tuner. The device will be able to both be purchased with and without a contract with a WiFi data provider, which means this tablet may start seeing itself overseas. via akihabaranews
