July 29, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 2 Comments.

The Huawei S7, a long-awaited and much anticipated MID/tablet PC is now finally ready to ship after months of delay and confusion. The shipping date has apparently been set as September the 6th of this year, and quite frankly the sooner the better. To refresh your memory, the Huawei S7 MID runs on the Google Android OS version 2.1, is powered by an impressive 768MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, even though previous reports had it clocked at 1GHz. Word has it won't be particularly cheap, with a $360USD price attached. via ubergizmo

Sharp IS01 / SH-10B Looking Good

July 28, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

The Sharp KDDI IS01 - also known as the Lynx SH-10B (sold in Japan by DoCoMo) -  certainly looks interesting. It's got a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, WiFi, IRD, 1Seg TV Tuner and 3G;  it's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 clocked at 1000MHz; it runs on Google's Android OS (most likely version 2.1). Whats not to like? Akihabaranews have reviewed it saying "Sharp’s IS01 is the pinnacle of mobile computing."A grand compliment indeed. Basically, the thing's bad, word's out, it looks great. via Akihabaranews UMPCPortal

E50 Colour E-Book Reader: More Than An E-Book Reader

July 28, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

Recently we've begun seeing e-readers with non e-ink screens, allowing them functionality far, far greater than an e-ink screen could ever provide. The E50, by company ShenXingZhe, is a 5-inch e-book reader that is also capable of 720p video playback. It supports a wide variety of video files including RM/RMVB, WMV, AVI, MP4, FLV, VOB etc. It also supports, of course, e-book formats of PDF, EPUB, PDB, RTF, MOBI etc. The E50 packs a 1900mAh battery that supposedly provides roughly 8 hours of reading life. All in all, a little more than an e-reader. via imp3

SODDIT – All Purpose?

Strange & ODDity In Technology - welcome to SODDIT, a hopeful new regular at MP4Nation. We’ll scour the internet superstores and bring to you the intriguing, the weird, the strange, the odd, and the downright unbelievable. Please, don’t let the loose stringency of our acronym naming system turn you away. SODDIT today brings you the TB480Z520-UM. The TB480Z520-UM is a UMPC, of sorts, that seems to boast it all. It's got the qwerty keyboard, it's got a trackpad, it's got what seems to be a 4-direction gamepad and it's also got a 4.8-inch touchscreen. Though the device just looks downright ridiculous, it actually has some pretty impressive specs. The TB480Z520-UM is powered by an Intel Atom Z series processor: the Z520 clocked at 1.33GHz. It has 1GB DDR2 RAM, a 4.8-in

Interpad Tablet To Debut In Europe

July 28, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

German manufacturer Interpad is soon releasing a 10-inch tablet running on Google's Android OS version 2.1, housing a capacitive multitouch screen, powered by the nVidia Tegra 2 T20 chipset with 1GB RAM and 16GB flash storage. Phew - it sounds grand. It also costs a pretty penny, at roughly $518USD! However, the tablet is powerful, is chocked full of features and may be worth that price to some. Other specs include a 3900mAh battery (for up to 12 hours battery life, apparently), WiFi and microSD expansion. via ubergizmo

Gemei GM2000 Colour E-Reader

July 27, 2010 by HS in Gemei with No Comments.

Gemei were making some waves on the internet with the video that surfaced of smooth colour PDF scrolling a while back. They have since debuted their GM2000 7-inch colour e-book reader that starts out in the 4GB flavour. The e-reader utilizes an LCD screen (after switching away from e-ink in the development process) meaning that battery life won't be stellar, but comic book reading will be far, far more attractive. The e-reader supports the standard file formats such as PDF, UMD, TXT, HTM etc. If the video that surfaced earlier is any indication, it looks like it may run on the Google Android OS, and Gemei are claiming this e-reader is capable of 1080p playback, which is certainly something interesting and makes us curious about what chip it's using. If it indeed does run Android, it

Haina Brings Us Another 10-Inch Tablet

July 27, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

This Haina 10-inch tablet holds a 10-inch, 1366x768 resistive touchscreen (a nice resolution) which also supports multitouch, a feature that seems to be proliferating in the Chinese tablet market at the moment which is a welcome development (note: mistake made here - the screen is unlikely to be multitouch.) Beyond that, not much is known about this 10-inch and stylish tablet (the red really looks good), except that it will have 3G connectivity (with a SIM card slot), WiFi connectivity, gravity sensor (a standard nowadays), and the various trimmings including the camera that you can see in the picture above. This Haina tablet will be powered by the Intel Atom N450 processor and, looking at the image after the break, seems to run on the Windows 7 OS. It looks good - another 10-inch tablet

SODDIT – Gaming? Think Again.

SODDIT today brings you the"2010 fashion mini digital mp4 player." It resembles a portable gaming console (eg. Gameboy) but seems to offer little functionality in that regard. We break it down. What you see pictured above actually looks pretty cool at first. Old-school game, old-school button navigation, an awesome sliding interface. So you get curious about the specs, and here is what we gleaned: 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen (???*) display (supports AVI/3GP video fo
