Gemei GM2000 Colour E-Reader
Gemei were making some waves on the internet with the video that surfaced of smooth colour PDF scrolling a while back. They have since debuted their GM2000 7-inch colour e-book reader that starts out in the 4GB flavour. The e-reader utilizes an LCD screen (after switching away from e-ink in the development process) meaning that battery life won’t be stellar, but comic book reading will be far, far more attractive. The e-reader supports the standard file formats such as PDF, UMD, TXT, HTM etc.
If the video that surfaced earlier is any indication, it looks like it may run on the Google Android OS, and Gemei are claiming this e-reader is capable of 1080p playback, which is certainly something interesting and makes us curious about what chip it’s using. If it indeed does run Android, it can’t be a Rockchip unless it’s the new fabled RK2818 (1080p). Guessing games aside, the added video functionality on an LCD screen makes this e-reader stand out from the crowd.
