Sochip SC8600 to WT6106

sochip-sc8600-wt61061

For those interested, this chip was found in the Ainol V8000HDB when that player was taken apart. However, according to the Ainol website, the V8000HDB is supposed to contain the Sochip SC8600 chip.  The HOTT HD390 also shares this chip. So what does this all mean? It most likely means that this chip is just the same Sochip SC8600 renamed which means functionality stays the same. This may seem like a strange move, the the adoption of a new name means that, to those less interested in knowing this kind of information, it seems that this chip is entirely unique and new. In fact, it is unknown if Sochip was even the original manufacturer of the SC8600 as that itself just could be a rename.

It’s all very confusing, isn’t it, but best to keep up to speed if you’re planning on purchasing a Chinese PMP.
