Meizu M9 w/ Android Sneak Peek?

May 31, 2010 by HS in Android, Phone with No Comments.

The Meizu M9, quite possibly the most looked-forward to phone in the Chinese market, has ditched the Windows CE OS of the M8 and moved on to Android, to bigger and better things. The M9 is supposed to be coming in September but the folks over at the Meizu official forums have been extremely mum about it and not arisen to the bait, not fallen into the panic-trap, and are declaring these photos fake. Who knows? We'll all eventually find out. via ClonedinChina

RAmos W7 Hands-On Video

May 31, 2010 by HS in Ramos with No Comments.

The video doesn't exactly bare all of the RAmos W7 for you to see - it has to be admitted that the video only gives a very basic rundown of the player - but at least you get to see it in some action which is useful considering the internet buzz that the impending release and availability of the W7 has engendered. The one interesting feature is the display of the iBook-lookalike feature like an actual bookshelf - but of course, this is nothing new in the world of e-readers, but something new for RAmos. The player looks thin and well crafted and seems comfortable to hold. If not a winner then at least a step in the right direction. via ClonedinChina

Taiji’s Innovative Tablet Bluetooth Keyboard

May 31, 2010 by HS in Video with No Comments.

This Taiji 10-inch tablet which will be unveiled at Computex which kicks off tomorrow looks pretty run-of-the-mill until you turn it over and find the pop-off bluetooth keyboard. Could it become a standard? via Engadget

HOTT MD700 MID Hands-On at iMP3

May 31, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

The HOTT MD700 has been given a test drive by the busy bees over at iMP3 and they have certainly put it through its paces, testing audio, video (with an extensive file format list test), displaying the UI, office program testing. One curious thing, though, is that web browsing appears to be sneakily missing aside from a reference and the MSN messenger that is clearly installed wasn't tested either. Overall the thing looks pretty solid, especially the office application but the on-screen keyboard might be less than convenient to use. In case you can't remember, the HOTT MD700 7-inch 800x480 MID uses the Telechips TCC8901 chip, has support for 1080p (1920×1080) HD decoding for following file formats: AVI, RM, RMVB, MKV, FLV, DAT, VOB, WMV, MPG, MP4, M4V video file formats; has suppo

Viewo V5HD

May 31, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

The V5HD PMP by less-well-known Chinese manufacturer Viewo, whose last grace on this blog was their pink-trim 4-incher, certainly doesn't look all that pleasant. It's that logo. But this PMP coming in 4GB/8GB flavours joins the legion of 4.3-inch players but opts go to down the 720p route, rather than sporting 1080p capability which certainly is the current market trend. It will support the standard array of video file formats (AVI, MKV, VOB, MP4 etc.), supports a card expansion slot rated at up to 16GB, and is generally all-around unimpressive. Another cookie-cutter player in the fray, but one that is nothing special. via iMP3

Qiji SmartBook III 5-Inch Windows Mobile Phone

May 29, 2010 by HS in Phone with No Comments.

Qiji are generally fond of large display phones, launching recently at their own event the Qiji third generation 'SmartBook' phone, the SmarBook III. Like the models in line before it, the SmartBook III comes with a 5-inch WVGA touchscreen, runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and packs an impressive 5-megapixel camera. The device also has 512MB of RAM, 512MB ROM, and will come in two flavours: the V3000 and U3000 which sipport CDMA2000 EVDO and GSM networking respectively. The specs are all lovely and dandy and if you're a fan of big display phones, then you should be interested in this one. via ClonedinChina

Viliv N5 MID Delayed

May 28, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

The Viliv N5 MID is expected to be delayed to some point in June and it doesn't bode well for pre-order holders who have not received any news regarding the status of their orders. Though disappointing the delay of the Viliv N5 MID is, we can't say we won't be excited to finally see it in action when it does hit store shelves in June. The reason for excitement is - though nobody is as of yet totally certain as to the confirguration of the Viliv N5 MID, there has been some speculation and leakage from sources saying that the sleek device will be powered by the Atom Z520 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, come bundled with 32GB of flash memory, have 1GB of RAM, integrated Intel GMA 500 graphics and a screen resolution of 1024x600 on its 4.8-inch screen size. What's not to be excited about? v

Zol Compares 5 1080p Heavyweights

May 28, 2010 by HS in Ainol, Gemei, Onda, Ramos, Teclast with No Comments.

The good people over at zol have done a comparison review article on 5 popular 1080p players, arguably some of the heavyweights on the market.  Among the 5 players compared there is the RAmos T13FHD, the Ainol V9000HDA, the Onda VX575, Gemei HD8800 and last but not least the Teclast T56. From the video performance to the UI, picture viewer and e-reader functionality are all compared and noted upon, with the advantages and disadvantanges of each commented on, the comparison article proves useful for those who are embroiled in a battle of which PMP player to choose. iToos M8HDP Joins The Fray

May 28, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

The 5-inch Chinese PMP market is, shall we say, saturated with a huge variety of models and brands each providing similar performance to the other and therefore creating no clear cut "best" and "worst" list. iToos recently has added to the complication further with their M8HDP 5-inch player utilizing the Boxchip (so most probably a Sochip) and capable of playing 1080p videos (most likely the Sochip SC9800 variant). The screen resolution runs at 800x480 and the player supports the standard array of video file formats including MKV, AVI, WMV, MPG, VOB etc. Considering the power of the chip, this player will do very well with video. Starts out in 8GB flavour. via zol
