Seems like everybody is jumping aboard the e-reader boat, so to speak, in the hopes they might sail downstream toward a large lake of profits. With every added competitor, though, that downstream gradually becomes upstream and we, the consumer, benefit. Good times, good times.
In fact, last year Viewsonic had already announced their plans to get-in-gear and join the e-reader competition, and now 2 new models have surfaced on the Viewsonic Europe site, the VEB620 and the VEB625. Both devices look similar, feature 6-inch e-ink screens. The differentiating feature is that the VEB625 has more advanced touch screen operation and has WiFi support.
This is no comic-book-browser, but it gets the simple job done.

The above pictured arcade guitar was hand built, part of a DIY project. There isn't given a lot of detail about how this was accomplished, but it functions and performs similar to a synth but with strings and a joystick for adjusting pitch, with field-programmable gate array for logic and function and selectable waves and save banks. Check out the video below - it sounds pretty awesome.

Yup, looks like HP was the one who stepped up to the proverbial plate and purchased Palm at a cost of $1.2 billion USD and it has been confirmed. HP are said to be "doubling down" on webOS, possibly getting involved in slates and netbooks, so hopefully good things are in store in the future.

The eco-friendly movement is certainly picking up. Why, it was blogged about yesterday! Now Samsung are aboard the green-train launching a new phone that accepts paper SIM cards. These paper SIM cards may seem like trying to cause waves by spitting into the ocean, but the plastic SIM cards are usually manufactured out of are petroleum-based plastics, so it is something worthwhile to consider. At the moment, the above pictured phone Samsung Blue Earth is only available to use with paper SIM cards in Portugal, whose carrier TMN have taken a brave step forward on the path of greengevity (ok that's a pretty naff coin).
Samsung's Blue Earth handset is eco-friendly in and of itself, featuring a solar panel on the pack of the device cutting down on that carbon footprint generated by chargin
The new RAmos T13FHD is now in stock, we have the 8GB version in right now and in a white back cover, i don't know if a 16GB or alternative color version will be released.
The RAmos T13FHD uses an Amlogic SoC, if you're wondering why that name sounds familiar, it's because its the same brand chip we have in our new Nationite HDVP-2. Like the HDVP-2, the T13FHD is a very good video player, capable of decoding videos that are upto 1080p and supports video out upto 1080p resolution.
The touch screen interface uses a resistive touch panel, 5.0" 800 x 480 screen and is coupled with a UI based on flash, however unlike other flash based UI's i have seen, the T13FHD is a bit more clunky and scrolling is not as smooth. This is made up for by the very good video playback as well as the ve
The Neofonie WePad has started accepting preorders at Amazon Germany. There is still no word on whether this will be available in the US or even other parts of Europe. Amazon Germany is featuring both the 16GB and 32GB models, priced at the expected levels ($598 and $757 USD respectively). Both models use the Intel Atom N450 processor, feature GMA 3150 graphics with an 11.6 inch touchscreen WiFi and Bluetooth. The 32GB version also gets integrated 3G support. Looks exciting.
