Although the port is new and still needs much work, it is nice to see Firefox come to Android and give users a further range of possible browsers for their Android based device. Firefox Fennec is available for download for Android here. Via Gizmodo

Android based iPad clone spotted

March 31, 2010 by Raz in Android, Tablet with 2 Comments.

We all knew it was coming, the first Chinese iPad clone has reared its head and if we are to believe the photos, its main menu UI is styled very similar to that of the iPad, but the device itself runs on Android, sounds like something Steve Jobs might have nightmare. The clone comes powered by a 600mHz ARM processor, ten inch screen and i assume wifi, no other real specs are available.This clone will supposedly sell for around $150. Two things irk me about this, 1) if that is the actual menu, then whoever is making this has the talent in their company to modify Android, shame they don't use that same talent to make something more unique, and, 2) i just can't shake the feeling the UI we are seeing is fake. Tactile gaming vest to bring the pain – I want

March 29, 2010 by Raz in Random with No Comments.

Nothing to do with pmps, but i thought this was pretty cool. As a former avid player of fps and still a semi part time player of fps games, i would actually enjoy having a force feedback vest while player certain fps games, it would just make the gaming experience a lot better and would really test your skills. Archos 8 Home Tablet powered by Chinas Rockchip RK2808

March 29, 2010 by Raz in Archos with No Comments.

I am not sure how intentional this was, but Rockchip have themselves announced that their Rockchip RK2808 processor is powering the Archos 8 home tablet. The above pictured device was announced at this years CeBit, along with the Archos 7 home tablet, which too runs on the same RK2808 processor. You would be right to think the above image is a photo frame, infact Rockchip refers to it as a smart photo frame also. The Archos 8 tablet will have wifi, web browsing, built in email client, photo viewing, weather and stock checking, as well as being tied into a cooking service that will teach you how to cook. Apart from mentioning that the Archos 8 home tablet will run on their chip, the pr doesn't state anything that we don't know about this device, apart from saying that Archos and Rock

The bPhone the Phone and netbook hybrid

March 29, 2010 by Raz in Random with No Comments.

You would be forgiven for mistaking the above image for a small netbook, but its infact a hybrid device, its both a phone and netbook. The 5.0" touch screen swivels 180 degrees to turn into a type of tablet that can be used like a phone. The bPhone runs on a linux 2.6 OS, 800X480 screen resolution, a Marvell PXA310 624MHz processor, 256MB NAND Flash, 128MB SDRAM, and has GPS, WiFi, FM, Bluetooth and java. To me the bPhone is a strange device, although the concept is intriguing, the 5.0" screen make it a bit too small for me to be used as a netbook and the 5.0" screen makes it a bit bulky to be used as a phone. I guess this maybe something more targeted to the frequent traveler who needs to save on space. The bPhone isn't cheap, it will retail for just under USD$600 and there is no in

Two new RAmos W7 Video demos {Video}

March 27, 2010 by Raz in Android, Ramos with No Comments.

Two more beta testers of the RAmos W7 have uploaded videos showing off various features of the new player. This RK2808 Android based PMP does look nice, but the video demos should not only be an indication of how the W7 performs, but how the RK2808 handles Android and how Rockchip is implementing and customizing Android for use as a PMP OS. Second video after the break.
