My Take on the RK2728 Chip

December 30, 2009 by Raz in Rockchip with 1 Comment.

There has been much speculation on what exactly was the difference between the RK2728 chip and rockchips new generation chip, the RK2806, i think i have my answer now. Simply put the RK2728 chip is made to used in players that were designed around the RK2706 chip, factories only need to change the chip, without changing any other hardware and load up a newer fimrware. This really isn't anything new, this pretty much was the same for players using the older RK2608 chip that then started using the RK2706 chip. It didn't happen with the RK2806 chip as this required different additional hardware to be present for it to properly work (in particular more SDRAM), i guess it just took Rockchip a little longer to develop a chip capable of doing the same as the RK2806 but based around the RK2706

Upgrade: Onda VX777 R-Version touch screen player

December 30, 2009 by Raz in Onda with No Comments.

Onda has yet again recycled another design, today they announced the soon to be released VX777R model. The current renderings show the player to look exactly the same physically and also looks to have the same main menu layout. I suspect that the VX777R will use the RK2728 media processor, this is an upgrade of the RK2706 chip. The newer chip supports even higher resolution videos, or rather, will playback, even better, the videos you currently have been using on your VX777LE or other RK2706 player. Expect the player to be released sometime in January 2010 and probably priced around the same as the old VX777LE was.

Google’s Nexus One Android Phone Video review

December 30, 2009 by Raz in Android, Video Review with No Comments.

Seems like someone was a lucky winner at a Google conference and won themselves a  Nexus one, bad for Google for forgetting to make him sign a non disclosure form and good for us that he had his camera on his trip. The video shows the Nexus one in action, well not really, but you do get a sense that the phone is quite thin and the interface is very slick. It does make the iPhone look like quite the fatty. Watching the video i couldn't get over how the phone looks like a larger version of my HTC Tattoo, although i knew Google was to OEM from HTC, i was expecting it to look a bit different from the standard HTC phones. I look forward to this phone, i hope the rumors of the unlocked version of the Nexus one cost USD$520 are wrong and i SO hope that they will release it for sale

DoDoNA’s S-100 Not your average square MP3 Player

December 30, 2009 by Raz in PMP with 1 Comment.

Now i am all up for players breaking the mold and coming out with their own unique look, but the Korean made DoDoNA's S-100 might take the cake. Although based on the traditional square design, it's the placement of the buttons that really makes this unique. I can't say i would be thrilled to use something like this, but i am sure there are plenty who would beg to differ. Although compact i don't think this would really fit into a persons pocket quite well. The S-100 has some nice features, including the ability to play FLAC, FM radio and a decent 1.1" screen, but this better be the best sound square shaped player at its hefty price tag of USD$170. Don't expect it in our store anytime soon. Via Engadget

Cowon V5 ‘HD’ – Wince based

December 29, 2009 by Raz in Cowon, PMP with 2 Comments.

Cowon looks to be releasing another media player in January, this pretty slick looking player looks to run on WinCE 6.0, some may cringe at hearing WinCE, but its more than common for Korean media players to run on some sort of modififed version of WinCE. Like other Korean based WinCE players, this will probably a have a totally custom UI, but will probably not allow full access to the WinCE interface, its another very common thing for Korean players to lock down the ability for users to fully utilize the wince OS. The V5 will come with a 4.8": high res screen with a touch screen interface. Although specific hardware information is limited, the V5 will have a RSS reader, which leads me to suspect that this will have wifi built in and some sort of internet connectivity. The V5 w

Fiio E7 & E9 Amps get redesigned

December 28, 2009 by Raz in Fiio with No Comments.

Fiio looks to make some 'slight' changes to their upcoming amps, frankly the new renderings show a far more slick design than what was previously released. Hopefully the real product will look as delicious (and sound as delicious) as they look in their renderings [gallery columns="4" orderby="post_name"] Thanks to ClieOS Discuss on our forums

To be or not to be: Nationite S:Flo2 1GB?

December 21, 2009 by Raz in Nationite, S:Flo Series with No Comments.

So we are selling through the S:Flo2 stock pretty fast and i will be reordering more quite soon. I just want to see what people would think of a S:Flo2 that only had 1GB. Now 1GB is not a lot of memory, for the S:Flo2 its the least amount it can have for it to work. The reason for the 1GB is that the player integrates memory from microsd cards also, so all yours songs automatically get added and sorted to the music list. The 1GB would allow for people to get the S:Flo2 for cheaper and use any existing microsd card they have with it. The player does support upto 16GB microsd cards (i have never owned or seen a 32GB card to ever test). The 16GB and 8GB would still be produced and would be readily available, the 1GB would be produced (at first) in limited amounts. Right now (based

Cube H800 MID – More Images

December 21, 2009 by Raz in Cube, Tablet with No Comments.

It seems like the good people at iMP3 have got their hands on a Cube H800 MID. The 4.3" MID doesn't have the most original design nor most attractive look. Its not really possible to tell just how well the H800 performs, I am just hoping that it does better than Cube B52wifi. I look forward to trying and getting my hands on one, i do hope it support English language. Check out the link for many more images for the Cube H800. More images via iMP3.net

RAmos T9HD Video Review – 4.3″ Capacitive Touch Screen

December 20, 2009 by Raz in Ramos, Video Review with No Comments.

The RAmos T9HD is quite similar to that of the original T9, however this version uses the new RK28065 media processor. The UI is nice, but it has some qwerks and some features that i wouldn't even recommend trying. However for all those short comings the screen quality coupled with the RK2806 processor make this one very nice video player. The RAmos T9HD is available from our online store.

RAmos T8HD – 4.3″ Touch Screen Player Review – Cover Flow and more

December 20, 2009 by Raz in Ramos, Video Review with No Comments.

The T8HD use the same body design as the old T8, however the T8HD comes packed with the more powerful RK2806 media processor. The T8HD has a 4.3" touch screen which support a max resolution of 480x272, about half the resolution as its bigger brother, the T11RK. Overall the T8HD has a very nice form factor, a nice UI and very good video playback, its certainly a player worth considering.
