Nationite MIDNite Xpress Website Loading Time Tests

site-time-lead

We’ve picked some popular websites to test the loading times via WiFi connection.
The WiFi connection was on 3 out of 5 bars signal strength and connected to a router 5 or 6 meters away through a wall.
For each site the cache was cleared beforehand to make sure it was loading from scratch and not using any residual site elements from previous visits.
Also, although site elements appeared and were selectable long before the whole page was loaded, the timer was stopped when the entire page had been opened and the progress bar had reached 100%.

See the times after the jump.

espn.go.com

Another hugely picture and plug-in heavy website but one with a comprehensive news section that is likely to be checked on the go. This site was up and running in 54 seconds.

bbc.co.uk

News from around the world in 67 seconds. Another picture heavy and plug-in loaded website.

rollingstone.com

The rock world at your fingers in 48 seconds.Considering the amount of information on this home page the load time’s impressively swift.

mp4nation.net/blog

Obviously considerate to our mobile readers, the MP4Nation blog took just 20 seconds to load. That included all images and texts from the 10 posts on the first page.

facebook.com

The login screen opened in 17 seconds. From there, after inputting the email address and password, seeing what people have been up to that day took a further 40 seconds before the reams of wall posts and pictures loaded up. Once it was there it was as smooth and naviagable as any other site.

news.yahoo.com

53 seconds for this huge news site. The main images and stories were displayed really quickly but the test is timing how long the green progress bar takes to reach the edge.
