FiiO E5 Headphone Amp - Nationite Edition From my time with this little fella I've come to know it as one of those indispensable items that I can no longer do without. My initial concern was that it would colour the sound too much but from the off those fears were quashed. As well as boosting the volume and all ranges, the most common complaint from headphones or IEMs is the lack of bass and the E5 takes care of

Cube’s H800 spotted in the wild – Budget Linux MID

September 29, 2009 by Raz in Cube, Tablet with 1 Comment.

The H800 has been making some slight rumblings, apart from some specs and a few pictures of the OS it would be using, there wasn't much info on the H800, till now, forum member nlite found these pictures of what looks  x to be the H800 prototype. Some things we do know about this player is that it will be linux based (duh!), 4.3" touch screen (480 x 272 resolution), run on an Ingenic JZ4750 chipset, we hope that it will have 128mb ram, as opposed to 64mb ram which the same chipset based B53Wifi had. Cube have not given any release date or pricing for this new player. Discuss on the forums More pictures after the jump. [gallery columns="4" orderby="post_name"]

Despite info being thin on the ground, we know the SA075 has an 800 x 480 touchscreen and has HDMI output. Even the HD capabilities are vague but considering 1080p has fast become the norm over the last few weeks, it's probable Philips will be following suit. [Via Slipperybrick] Discuss on the forum.

iLuv i1166 9 Inch Flip-Top PMP Plays It All

September 29, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

This 9 inch iLuv odd box plays content from iPods, DVDs, SD & MMC cards and USB sticks, oddly bypassing the modern convenience of onboard storage. The jack-of-all-trades device costs $269.99 and potentially worryingly, the press release doesn't include resolution information for the 9" TFT widescreen. [Via Engadget] Discuss on forum.

“There’s Nothing HD About the ZuneHD”

September 28, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

In a guest article for Pocketables.net, Ben L. has written how the ZuneHD doesn't quite live up to its "HD" buzz word. The first gripe Ben L. has can be said of a number of 'HD' players, i.e. player itself can't display HD content due to its 480x272 screen which is 14% of the lowest HD standard (720p) and 6% of full HD (1080p). The second big issue Mr L. found with the player is that whilst it can provide HD TV-OUT, it can't do it without the extra expense of a $90 Zune HD AV Dock, rendering you out of pocket and taking away the portable aspect of TV-OUT.
