Rockchip demonstrates RK2808 Player using Android
Ok, i know, just about everyone and their mother has reported this, but i felt we needed a post too. The video demonstrates a prototype player (we think made by Rockchip themselves) using the new RK2808 chipset and running Google’s Android OS. The video does show that the chip can handle android, but it does look to be running a bit sluggish at times, then again its just a prototype and i think they probably just wanted to show that it could handle Android. Second video after the jump.
Hopefully with a bit more work, we will see a better suited device using the RK2808 chip and running Android much smoother, if so an entire new chapter in the Chinese PMP industry will open up, low cost, open OS, internet enabled devices, i for one can’t wait to see the first of these type of players rolling out of the factories.
