SmartQ rolling out another MID – the Q7

SmartQÂ announced a few days ago another MID to their line up, the Q7 looks to be a larger version of the Q5. There are only a few details to go by other than it will have a USB slot for OTG along with a 7.0″ touch screen. A few pictures were released and we can say the ‘internet tablet’ does look pretty stylish, a far better looking MID than the Q5 looks. However i think the Q7, apart from some small hardware changes, will at its core be the same as the Q5, most likely the same Samsung ARM processor and ARM Ubuntu.
Although the Q5, when first announced, was almost groundbreaking, in reality the Q5 is a sluggish device with an over bloated linux OS. With only one update to the Q5 so far and no real improvement in performance, it doesn’t give a great deal of confidence in what the Q7 will be like, especially if it uses the same processor and OS, it too would be plagued with the same issues that the Q5 has.
Let hope for the best, no real word on pricing (but speculation is ripe that it will be anywhere from RMB$300 -$500 more than the Q5) and no release date, let hope SmartQ doesn’t rush this product out like they have with the Q5 and gets this one right from the get go.
