Chuwi MID – Telechip based & More pitcures, doesn’t look too bad

May 14, 2009 by Raz in Chuwi, Tablet with 2 Comments.

Chuwi has released more images of their upcoming MID, the W3000. The initial images of the MID didn't exactly make it look like a stunner, but the real images look strikingly more impressive than the renderings. The W3000, which will run on WinCE 5.0, will have wifi and possibly GPS and bluetooth, the touch screen size is still unconfirmed. What makes the W3000 really stand out from the rest of the current WinCE MID's coming out of China is that this will be running on the South Korean Telechips ARM processor. The Telechips 7901 that is being used on the W3000 is touted as a dual core ARM microproccesor with a built in DSP. The processor is being claimed to be better for this type of MID as its geared towards better performance for audio and video playback, while also being designed

Newsmy XO – The player to appease your vanity

May 14, 2009 by Raz in Newsmy, PMP with 1 Comment.

Well the Newsmy XO was shown to be one shiny player, but this nano type player can also double as a mirror for those moments when you need to fix your lipstick or eye shadow. So not only is this a stylish, razor thin media player, its also a cosmetic accessory. More pictures after the break. [gallery columns="4" orderby="post_name"]

Energy Sistem 30xx series PMP to use Rockchip

May 14, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

Energy Sistem, a European PMP company, is coming out with a new multicolored series of players. The players do come with a rather stylish look to them and will even support upto 16GB of internal memory. This small 1.8" screen player looks to be priced at a rather high US$149 for the 16GB, which for the same price you can get a lot bigger and better players with the same amount of internal memory. The 30xx series does seem to indicate that they will have Microsoft Playfx, which pretty much indicates that they will be running on a Rockchip media chip, from the options in the UI pictures, we assume that it will be using the RK2706, so this overpriced rainbowesque player will have some good sound quality. Cube H100HD gets gutted and yet another new media chip spotted…or is it??

May 12, 2009 by Raz in Hardware News, PMP with No Comments.

Some of you may already be familiar with the Cube H100HD, the player uses a new high resolution video supported media chip, which not only will be able to support 1080i videos but also support 1080i video out, something that from short video reviews we have seen, may actually be true. Now the Cube H100HD claim to have super video playback is being shared by other brands also, but each have been quite hush hush on what media chip they are all using. Currently every one of these similar players that have been opened have had a different named media chip within them, the H100HD is no different either. The Cube H100HD has a AHD1080 media processor at it core, what is this chip and who makes it, well there is no hard proof, but it is easy to assume its just a rebranded chip with each

SmartQ Q7 spotted – looks fruity

May 11, 2009 by Raz in SmartQ, Tablet with No Comments.

SmartQ Q7 has been already spotted, the form factor, from the images, does look nice, but the colors could be better. The Q7 does seem to be the same hardwarewise to the Q5, but only with a larger screen. This is a bit of dissapointment, with the Q5 OS being sluggish out of the box and no real idea if that would improve, we can probably expect the same performance issues with the Q7. One thing we could look forward to is third party developers porting over a lighter UI allowing for a better performing player. Via Engadget.

Well Hello there…CUbe H100HD gets babed out

May 9, 2009 by Raz in Player Babed Out, PMP with 1 Comment.

Well before you rush to see the other pics, have a look at the UI on the player, looks like the generic UI that will be used on the JZ4750 media chip based player, i am pretty sure this is not a rockchip based player anymore. More images in the gallery. [gallery columns="4" orderby="post_name"]

SmartQ rolling out another MID – the Q7

May 8, 2009 by Raz in PMP with 1 Comment.

SmartQ  announced a few days ago another MID to their line up, the Q7 looks to be a larger version of the Q5. There are only a few details to go by other than it will have a USB slot for OTG along with a 7.0" touch screen. A few pictures were released and we can say the 'internet tablet' does look pretty stylish, a far better looking MID than the Q5 looks. However i think the Q7, apart from some small hardware changes, will at its core be the same as the Q5, most likely the same Samsung ARM processor and ARM Ubuntu. Although the Q5, when first announced, was almost groundbreaking, in reality the Q5 is a sluggish device with an over bloated linux OS. With only one update to the Q5 so far and no real improvement in performance, it doesn't give a great deal of confidence in what the Q

RAmos T12 (TNT) Gets briefly video demod

May 7, 2009 by Raz in PMP, Ramos, Video Review with No Comments.

Much like RAmos did with their T9, RAmos has given us yet another teaser preview at their new T12 player. This player will use the new Rockchip RK2806 chipset, which is being billed as the uber powerhouse media chip, capable of playing videos in 1080i and MKV format (with even DTS decoding). Well, what the ads say and what it can do, can be quite the opposite, especially with shady China marketing. Something we can get from the video is that it (thankfully) loads fast, much faster than the normal CC1600 player. The scroll wheel looks to work well, but there seems to be no sort of dynamic/kinetic scrolling, so it looks like you will be turning that scrolling wheel quite a lot to get through you long list of audio and video files. The player is to have a 5.0" 800 x 480 resolution scree

Get this monster media player for $129.50 - Free shipping and comes with a viewing stand and USB power charger adapter. Check the product page for written and video review, along with more images. Who should get this player: Ok this player is big, well big in the category for portable media players, but it is ideal as an extra video screen for watching videos on your desk, in your car and would be really fun on long commutes or while traveling. Obviously this is not the easiest thing to carry around, so it is not something that you would want to carry around every day (unless you have long commutes). Good screen and good video playback, certainly a good, large screen player. Get one today!
