RAmos has sent out the first real images of their new T12 player and from the first images we have to say that RAmos has stuck to their trend of producing some very nice looking players. The RAmos T12 uses the new RK2806 media processor, which is Rockchips contender to ChinaChips CC1600 media processor. Although not confirmed, the RK2806 chip is being advertised to be a ‘HD’ capable, which in this case means being able to play AVI and RMVB files that are in 1280×720 resolution at a full 30fps. The RK2806 is also being billed as being able to support H.264, in particular MKV playback - we are quite used to RAmos and Rockchip over stating what their players can do, so we are going to wait till we can get our hands on one of these before we believe any of these claims.

One of the things that made this 5.0? high resolution screeen player (800×480) also stand out was that it was going to have a scroll wheel, like that found on Blackberry devices, well from the above image, we can clearly see the scroll wheel and from the other images we can get an idea of how the UI works with the wheel. Now the thing that surprised us was the type of wheel they used, really this is a bit of a let down, it looks like one of those volume/tuning scroll wheels you find on really cheap handheld radios and players. I guess we will need to wait till we can get one to play with before we judge it any further. Apart from the cheapy look of the wheel, the rest of the player looks quite slick, with only a 12mm thickness. The T12 is expected to be out in the next 2 - 3 weeks, but no pricing info yet.
