Nationite OS-72HR – Picture Set – Stunning screen

April 22, 2009 by Raz in PMP with 1 Comment.

Take a good look at the above image, the image being displayed on the new Nationite OS-72HR screen is of a video playing, even on the above resized image you can clearly make out how sharp and clear the 4.3" high resolution screen is The screen has a fantastic viewing angle, images retain their sharpness and clarity from virtually any angle, a feat that not many other similar players can do. Yes, i know, i am bragging here, but really take a look through all the additional images demonstrating the wide viewing angles and you will see i am not at all overstating the fact about the players screen quality. The Nationite OS-72HR solid metal body, with cut metal buttons and glass protective screen all add to give the OS-72HR a much high brow appeal, far more than many of the current C

BM-996HD: 7 Inch Blue Morning Glory

April 20, 2009 by Tom in PMP with 1 Comment.

Here's a first look at the 8GB Blue Morning BM-996HD from China. Not quite pocket sized, it sports a 7 inch TFT screen which displays at up to 720p (1280 x 720). As well as supporting the usual video formats (MP4, AVI, RM, FLV etc.) and music, it also doubles as an e-book reader that supports playing MP3s while you read. Soundwise Microsoft Play FX is supported with 3D surround and FM radio is thrown in to boot. Expansion comes in the form of a TF card (128MB – 4GB) and it is powered by a lithium-ion battery (which will hopefully last through a movie or two at the highest resolution).

Oppo Announces S39 ‘HD’ Player – Looks slick

April 18, 2009 by Raz in Oppo with No Comments.

Oppo has announced their new S39 'HD' player. The S39 looks to have a 4.3" screen with a resolution of 800x480, much like the many other new 'HD' players.  The S39 looks to be using the RK2806 media processor along with a Wolson audio DAC.  The S39 also looks to be touch screen based, which if so, would make it the first confirmed player to use the RK2806 chip with touch screen ability.  Oppo also seems to want to point out that the player will support H.264 video playback. Oppo has been no stranger to producing some very nice looking players, but as of late they have been going out of the way to produce even better user interfaces. Hopefully the real UI will live upto the UI renderings on the images. Discuss on our forums [gallery columns="4" orderby="post_name"]

Chuwi has MID in the works – starts rumor mill into high gear

April 18, 2009 by Raz in Chuwi with No Comments.

Well it looks like Chuwi has started their rumor mill into action with the announcement that they have a MID in the works, Apart from that above image, there really is no other info (other than it may be linked to Skynet and the downfall of man) My speculation is that it will be a MID based of the CC1600 chipset, which if i am correct, you will see every MP4 manufacturer rolling out the same thing in the next two months (much like all the 'HD' devices based on the CC1600 chip right now). RAmos – The Terminator – T12 HD Revealed

April 17, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

RAmos has sent out the first real images of their new T12 player and from the first images we have to say that RAmos has stuck to their trend of producing some very nice looking players.  The RAmos T12 uses the new RK2806 media processor, which is Rockchips contender to ChinaChips CC1600 media processor. Although not confirmed, the RK2806 chip is being advertised to be a ‘HD’ capable, which in this case means being able to play AVI and RMVB files that are in 1280×720 resolution at a full 30fps. The RK2806 is also being billed as being able to support H.264, in particular MKV playback - we are quite used to RAmos and Rockchip over stating what their players can do, so we are going to wait till we can get our hands on one of these before we believe any of these claims. SmartQ Q5 gets first update, adds desktop ability

April 17, 2009 by Raz in SmartQ with No Comments.

Well SmartQ has released their first update for the Q5, the download is about 160mb in size and looks to add better PDF support and the ability to have aproper desktop (before you were limited to just the one folder icon). Sadly it doesn't seem like that English language has been implemented yet, but it seems that SmartQ is commited to improve the Q5 firmware, so its probably only a matter of time before an English language version of the Q5 is rolled out. Chuwi’s Lightweight 3.5 Inch HD M30

April 16, 2009 by Tom in Chuwi, PMP with No Comments.

Chuwi have revealed the M30, their slimmed down portable high definition MP4 player. Focusing on the portability aspect, the matt black player has been designed to be light on the pocket and ergonomically friendly in the hand. Measuring 110mm x 70mm x 13.8mm, the M30 supports 720p HD video formats and has built-in stereo speakers which claim to cut through noisy environments with their "high-quality audio chip". Other than that the M30's navigation controls are buttons lined up along the top of the player, no other details have been announced. The Chuwi predecessor, the M20, used the popular HD - CC1600 media chip although it's unknown whether the M30 will follow suit.

Teclast’s M66, RK2806 Player with plenty of buttons

April 15, 2009 by Tom in PMP, Teclast with 2 Comments.

Teclast are bucking the touchscreen trend and opting for good ol' fashioned buttons for their forthcoming PMP. This hands-off approach could be for the best as the 5-inch low temperature poly-silicon screen supports 720p HD decoding, as well as H.264 MKV, RM/RMVB and AVI video support (with more details yet to be announced). The UI can be seen below. Discuss on our forum

RAmos T9 (Touch Screen) Video Review and Sale!

April 14, 2009 by Raz in Ramos, Special Deals, Video Review with 1 Comment.

Well we have had our sample for sometime, but i only found the time to get this video done now.  The RAmos T9 use the newer RK2712 chipset, which is capable of better video playback than the standard RK2706 chipset, but should not be mistaken as being the same as the CC1600 chipset. The T9 has a very beautiful 4.3" high resolution screen, with a capacitive touch screen interface. The scrolling is like that of the S:Flo, a very nice dynamic scrolling, the overall UI is nice and the touch screen is more responsive than what i showed it to be on the review. We are currently having a bit of a presale, order today the RAmos T9 8GB for just $119.50 and get with it a free viewing stand and a mofi case. Discuss on our forum Get one today!
