New images of SmartQ Q5 MID – a peek at the preloaded apps

March 19, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

SmartQ has released more images of their new MID in action, although the shots are clearly renderings, it does hint at what preloaded programs will be coming with the player (and its probably no suprise if it comes out that they didn't get permission to distribute these normally free programs for commercial use). So far we can tell it will have the following programs: Sylpheed (e-mail) FBReader (document reader) SMPlayer (video; front-end for MPlayer) rgbPaint (paint tool) Transmission (BitTorrent client) Pidgin (IM client) Audacious (music player) Still not sure what browser the player will come with, i speculate firefox as there have been previous hints to it on other SmartQ promo images. Check the gallery below for the rest of the image and let us know on our f

Info and image on SmartQ HDTV desktop device

March 16, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

Its not been confirmed that SmartQ second device that they will be launching is not a portable media player, but a desktop box set for those that want to watch HD videos from their PC on their TV. The desktop set looks to have some serious power, normally such sets within China are geared for the HD RMVB playback, but this device will be able to play a multitude of HD video formats. This device, for those not familiar with such devices, basically has a slot of memory cards and external USB hard drives to connect to them, the device in turn in connected to your TV, the box then plays any videos that you have on your choice of memory storage on your TV. Just like MP4 Players, these devices do vary in their ability to decode videos, thus affecting their video and audio playback abiliti

Video Review: SmartQ T5-II With Game Emulation + Special Deal

March 13, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

The SmartQ T5-II is certainly a different cut from the rest of the MP4 players that are currently on the market, much like its predecessor, the T5, the T5-II sticks to the same look, but has been upgraded under the hood. The player is powered by the powerful ADI Blackfin BF547 processor with a clock speed of 600mHz. It also has a sharp 3.0? LTPS screen for splendid image quality and the Wolfson DAC for superb audio quality. Take advantage of our current Raz Special and get the SmartQ T5-II (with no memory) for only $79.50 - with free shipping. First real images of SmartQ Q5 MID

March 10, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

Well it does look like the Q5 is all real, haha the first real images have been posted on iMp3 website, looks like SmartQ is now gearing up for a full release of this very interesting player. What we can say from the images is that the overall design doesn't look anything revolutionary, in fact the stylus and the buttons that are present on the player take the design down a notch, but the screen does look nice and it does seem to be sporting a full OS. I expect this player to be out by the end of this month, within China it will have a price tag of RMB899 - about USD#130.00 not bad for a MID, however we assume it will come with no internal memory and till we get a sample in our hands, we can only speculate how well the hardware can actually handle the software. Linux ported to Onda VX747 – JZ4732 Based players – REALLY!!!!!!

March 9, 2009 by Raz in PMP with 2 Comments.

Ok folks time to go looking for that old Onda VX747 player you bought last year, the good people at vm-kernal.org have figured out how to get linux to load on a Ingenic JZ4732 based machine. Although confirmed to work on the VX747, we speculate that most likely the same method can be used to get linux working on any Ingenic based chipset, even the newer VX777. The best part about this is that the process isn't that hard, although not a walk in the park, most people will be able to follow the instructions and be able to get linux to run on their VX747. Now for how well the player can handle linux, well, from what some users have reported, that basic apps, like media player, calculator etc open and work as they should. I myself will be spending some trying this out, now i jus

First real images of RAmos T10

March 1, 2009 by Raz in PMP, Ramos with No Comments.

Well it looks like the RAmos T10 is gearing up for a public launch, the first sock images and sneak preview of the real machine have started to hit the net, no doubt released via RAmos PR department. The player will also be using a high resolution, 800 x 480 res panel. The T10 uses the Texas Instruments Davinchi processor, a first for any Chinese MP4 player. The T10 will be able to play very high resolution videos, including MKV and H.264 format videos. Sadly the above image shows that although the chip maybe powerful, the GUI maybe lacking, lets hope this changes before its released. Via PMPToday and PConline.com.cn Discuss on our forums
