SmartQ are a Chinese MP4 company that take a slightly different route then the normal manufacturers out in China. While the others release a new player a month (no exaggeration ), SmartQ takes a more refined approach and only currently have 2 payers in their range, choosing to modify and update the player to achieve better results.
So when SmartQ announce a new player its big news, so here it is
The TAO

Rumors are rife as to what this player is and what it will do and one of the biggies is its choice of processor. SmartQ have been using the ADI BLACKFIN processor in the T5 range of players and have made good use of it, its more expensive then the usual Chinese fare but more powerful all round, but this time its rumored they will be using the same chip as Meizu have chosen for their up and coming power phone come player, the M8. Its from Samsung and may possibly be the Samsung S3C6410.
Specs as known so far
- 3.3″ screen @ 480×320 (possibly touch but unconfirmed)
- Button discretely around the 2 shorter sides of the player (so may not be touch screen)
- Samsung S3C6410 processor (maybe)
More news to follow as soon as we know it, definitely one to watch as SmartQ take a lot of care and thought over their products, something some other Chinese manufacturers could learn from
