So i got bored today and decided to open up the new Onda VX787 sample i got yesterday. Nothing of any real surprise, however the images do suggest that the screen maybe a capacitive screen after all. Anyways enjoy the below pictures and yes i was able to put it back together and it still works

The case was actually quite easy to open, i had issues opening the VX767 case before.

I was impressed to see such a nice clean finish for the circuit board, however i wasn’t surprised, Onda tends to have higher manufacturing standards that the average MP4 maker. I was a little annoyed to find that the speakers were glued onto the back case. The battery is pretty big, not surprise that you can get about 6hrs of continuous video playback on this (but the battery is thinner than that of the VX767 battery).

Ah, the screen, capacitive or resistive? I think capacitive.

The board, the chip with the sticker on top of it is the Rockchip RK2706 media chip that runs the VX787.

Always interesting to open a MP4 player and see what makes it tick. Head on over to our forum to disucss this and if you haven’t already, checkout our review of the Onda VX787.
