August 31, 2008 by maderin1 in Meizu, Nationite, PMP, Video Review with 1 Comment.

Well this is the one the world has apparently been waiting for, the first live video of the Meizu M8 phone in action. This is no mock up test board, this is the player in all its glory. So as i write this i am asking all you readers, does it mimic the iPhone? i personally don't know, i have played with an iphone for all of 30 seconds, have never watched a video of the iPhone so i ahve no real idea if this is a copy or if it stands as am individual piece of work. Any way, watch the video and let us know if you are amazed, let down, bitchin cos your an apple fanboy .. what, what is your opinion ... was it worth the wait? Remember this is probably one of the players currently out on test so there may be things to fix and also no release date has been set, although there had be

RAmos releases iPearl – looks nice, but fails to impress

August 30, 2008 by Raz in Ramos with No Comments.

RAmos has released another new player to their new MumuMusic player line, the iPearl, the player itself actually looks nice, but when you take a look at the specs, it really fails to impress. The player looks to use the RK2706 chipset, which in itself is quite good, but they top it off by only using a 2.8" QVGA screen, would have been better fi they had gone with a higher quality screen to match the nice design of the player. The player will do the same as other RK2706 chip based players can do (play hi res video, multiple video and audio formats supported and good audio quality). Via iMP3.net Discuss on our forums

Disection: Onda VX787 Internal Pictures

August 30, 2008 by Raz in Onda with 5 Comments.

So i got bored today and decided to open up the new Onda VX787 sample i got yesterday. Nothing of any real surprise, however the images do suggest that the screen maybe a capacitive screen after all. Anyways enjoy the below pictures and yes i was able to put it back together and it still works ;) The case was actually quite easy to open, i had issues opening the VX767 case before. I was impressed to see such a nice clean finish for the circuit board, however i wasn't surprised, Onda tends to have higher manufacturing standards that the average MP4 maker. I was a little annoyed to find that the speakers were glued onto the back case. The battery is pretty big, not surprise that you can get about 6hrs of continuous video playback on this (but the battery is thinner than that of the VX7

Onda VX787 4.3″ Touch Screen Video Review

August 29, 2008 by Raz in Onda, Video Review with 1 Comment.

Overall the player is quite solid, it isn't however, for a touch screen player, in the same league as the S:Flo, its more like an advanced version of the VX777 with a bit better UI. Now the sample we got has the firmware that will most likely be on the first VX787 that go on sale in China. It is stable, but it has many bugs, some noticable during the video review. The audio is good, like that of other rk2706 based player, the ID3 bug that was on the SFLO doesn't seem to be on this player, which is good. There is no coverflow at all, basically only the center image changes, all those albums on the side stay the same. The firmware doesn't support album art right now, but future update will add it. The touch sceeen for the most part can be used with a finger but some options are pretty

August 28, 2008 by maderin1 in Hardware News, Onda, PMP with 1 Comment.

ONDA VX525 WITH FLASH BASED USER INTERFACE just spotted this player, hot off the press, its a new player by onda called the vx525 and the thing to note is that the player will use FLASH for the user interface, bringing animation and style to the ui these are renders only but the player is said to be released soon with ll the standard capabilities The article in translation mention ACTIONS, now actions are another chip maker, famous for powering all the nano clone player at the beginning of the mp4 boom, they mad massive improvements with a newer chip that sunk without trace, so could the actions they mention be them, their chip was better than the rockchip!! we will have to wait and see what the true spec is and what chip it uses but this is one to watch if it all comes to

Yitoa ‘Phantom of the Opera MP5′ 4.3″ Touch Screen Player spotted

August 27, 2008 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

Zol.Com.cn has done a small review of a relatively unknown MP4 makers, Yitoa, 'Phantom of the Opera MP5' 4.3" touch screen player. We don't know too much about Yitoa, except that looking at this player they may not have grasped what aesthetics are. What we do know about the 'Phantom of the Opera MP5' is that it does have a QVGA touch screen, most likely run on the RK2706 chipset, is fatter than your skinny girlsfriends fat annoying friend and supports TV Out. Now the strange thing is, i don't think Yitoa may have done enough market research, seeing how their 4GB player in the China market retails fro RMB$799 (about USD$118) and other similar (and much nicer looking) players like the RAmos T8 cost RMB$699 (about USD$102)  for their 8GB player, the 'Phantom of the Opera MP5' seems to

Gampark’s GP2X Wiz handheld – looks like the SmartQ T5-II

August 26, 2008 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

Although Gampark GP2X Wiz looks similar to the SmartQ T5-II, the two are quite different. The Wiz has a 2.8-inch QVGA OLED screen, 533MHz ARM9 processor, 64MB of RAM, 16GB of flash, and 5 hour battery life -- not to mention a Flash 7 player, MPEG4, xViD and DivX compatibility. Like other GP2X machines, it will support homebrewed goodies and the Gampark is planning on releasing a new game every month for the unit. It should be out in October. Via Engadget

TMSON Reveals 4.3″ Player – F1 – Maybe Touch Screen

August 26, 2008 by Raz in Rockchip, TMSON with No Comments.

TMSON has dropped some pictures of a new MP4 player that they have in the work, the F1, it does seem that the player may have a touch screen navigation, although they did not specifically mention this, there is a cleat absence of push button navigation markings anywhere on the images. The images do show what appears to be a completed model and there really doesn't seem to be any hit of any buttons, so this does add to the touch screen speculation. The player will also have dual speakers and support CMMB (Chinese developed digital TV braodcast), i think it is fair to also assume that this will be a RK27xx based player, much like the RAmos T8. No word on when this particular player will be out, but i suspect you will probably be seeing it hit the Chinese markets within the next two w
