Ainol seems to be hard at work at developing new and more innovative players, unlike other Chinese MP4 makers who are keen on capitalizing on the touch screen trend, Ainol is sticking to traditional push button navigation, but emphasizing on style and functionality.
The V2000SL, with the SL standing for Slim, is in fact only 10mm thick, with a sleek alloy back, this design is without a doubt an Apple inspired concept, even the front, we can’t really give Ainol any props here. However they do stick with using a 3.0″ LTPS screen, which is by far one of the best types of screens that any portable media player could have. Sadly we don’t believe that Ainol will be using a WVGA LTPS screen like they are using on their new V3000, but rather they seem to be using their standard TFT LTPS screen, like that on their S100 and V2000SE models.
The player is also capable of TV Out and has wireless remote support, allowing you to sit back and enjoy your videos from your player on you big screen tv and being able to fast forward, rewind or change videos without getting up. This is certainly a first for MP4 players. Now Ainol is stating that the player will also have a special UI displayed only on the TV, allowing you, like the above image, to be able to see thumbnails of your videos and choose that way. However till we see this really in action, we aren’t going to say how good this may be, knowing Chinese MP4 makers habit of over stating the functionality of a players UI.
Overall this looks to be a promising player, its 3.0″ LTPS screen will allowing for great image quality as well as good viewing angle. We suspect that this may use a Ingenics chip, seeing how most of Ainols players are based on that chipset. Most likely this will be out by the end of August, if not sooner and we can probably guess that the 4GB version may as cheap as USD$70-$80 (in the China market). We’ll post more details as we get them about this player.
